Fragments of the wall paintings that decorated the tomb of the royal scribe Nebamun at Thebes, painted around 1350 BC. Eleven panels have been in the British Museum since 1821. The best known scene is “Fowling in the Marshes”, where Nebamun stands large on a boat, hunting birds among the papyrus, with his wife and his daughter shrinking in size according to their place in the household.
