A trapezoidal wooden box inlaid with lapis lazuli, shell and red
limestone, found in 1928 in one of the royal tombs of ancient Ur (now
Iraq). Its two faces, known by convention as “war” and “peace”, show
chariots, prisoners and soldiers on one side and a royal banquet with
offerings of animals and goods on the other. It measures only 21 × 49
cm. It is in the British Museum.
