Romanesque · chronological order 3

Cathedral begun around 1076-1077 in the old capital of the kingdom of Aragón, one of the first works of full Spanish Romanesque. Its basilican plan with a nave and two aisles, its columns with historiated capitals and its south doorway became the model for many churches on the Aragonese branch of the Camino de Santiago. It started out as the cathedral of the newly created bishopric of Aragón, part of the reforms of King Sancho Ramírez.
