Oil on canvas, 131 × 175 cm, painted by Renoir in 1876. A Sunday afternoon dance at the Moulin de la Galette, a windmill turned dance hall at the top of Montmartre. Renoir rented a room nearby so he could paint the scene from life over several months, catching the sunlight filtered through the leaves and dropped in patches over dresses and faces. It hangs in the Musée d’Orsay.
